So anyway, here's the video...it's sort of long, but you'll get the idea after a minute or two.

So I know a lot of you don't have any idea what Detroit is actually like. I do plan on taking a lot of pictures of Detroit while we live here. I am not very good at that kind of photography (I'd rather do people), but it will be a good opportunity to work on it. I also hope to do some video. When David brought me to Detroit in May of 2007 I had NO idea what I was about to see. I just remember crying. I found this video on youtube that shows only the skyskrapers that have been abandoned....I hope to get some neighborhood pics up soon. The idea of the video is to show you that these buildings are downtown...they aren't off in some part of town...they are EVERYWHERE...and next door might be a highrise selling condos for $250,000-1,000,000. Seriously. Who is going to invest in that?

I remember going in to Comerica Park (is it Comerica?) to watch a Tigers game with Mark last year. Not a pretty sight. And yet there's something strangely stirring about the complete desolation. It has an apocalyptic feel.
I'm so proud of you guys for moving. :)
It's so sad. I remember we used to go to Detroit on the train from Ann Arbor to go to Hudson's--I think it's one of those big empty buildings now. Do they have plans to tear some of them down? What do they project will happen to the city?
So I figured out about Hudsons....They tore it down in 2005 and replaced it with the 99,000 sq ft. building now called the YMCA where David and I go to work out! Weird. I couldn't figure out where the old Hudson's building was....then last night after we were done climbing the wall at the "y" I saw a picture of Hudson's being destroyed on the wall and put 2 and 2 together.
